Gaia Pope Inquest Resumes 15 Sept

For Gaia’s family, the wait is agonising. We hope progress will be made so that they can properly explore the multiple state failures in this case which contributed to her mental health breakdown and ultimately a pre.png

The hearing will consider what issues the inquest will cover and when it will take place. Two hearings were cancelled over the summer and after almost three years her family say vital questions about Gaia’s death - and the adequacy of local support services - remain unanswered.

Victory for victims as police issue new digital data ‘consent forms’

The National Police Chiefs’ Council has this month issued new forms and guidance, which set out the circumstances in which the police may lawfully ask a victim or witness to provide material from their digital devices in the course of a criminal investigation. The announcement forms part of the settlement of a legal challenge commenced by the Centre for Women’s Justice last year.

Judge calls Emily Hunt case ’shocking’ as she sentences the man who secretly filmed Emily during her sleep

Sex offender Christopher Killick was sentenced today to a 30-month community order, a £2,000 fine, and payment of £5,000 in compensation, after pleading guilty last month to illegally filming Emily Hunt naked while she slept.

Controversial ‘consent forms’ used in rape and sexual offences cases withdrawn by the police

The National Police Chiefs Council are withdrawing the current digital data extraction forms controversially used in rape and sexual offence cases. The announcement follows a legal challenge brought by CWJ last year which argued that the use of these forms was unlawful, discriminatory and led to excessive and intrusive disclosure requests.
