Fundraising for CWJ

Fundraising is an enjoyable, rewarding experience and needn’t be a complicated process.

One of the easiest ways to start raising donations is to set up an online page and tell your friends and family to sponsor you.

Simply, go to a fundraising platform such as www.justgiving.com and follow the instructions to search and fundraise for Centre for Women’s Justice.

Most importantly, make sure you tell people why you are raising money and how it will make a difference.

Once you have this set up, all you have to do is spread the word.

Email the campaign to your friends and family and ask them to share it on social media.

We'll also be here to support you and promote your campaign. Remember to tag us in any posts and share your stories and images with us to keep you and your supporters inspired.

If you've not yet decided on your idea and are looking for some inspiration, here are some other ways to raise money to help tackle violence against women:

Take part in the London Legal Walk - 10K around some of the capital's most iconic parks, or choose another location.

*If you are already taking part with a legal firm you can nominate us to receive up to 50% of your funds! Email us to find out more!

Walk, jog or run in an Ultra Challenge of your choice and enjoy magnificent coastal scenery, or stunning open countryside.

Ultra Challenges also arrange training walks and runs for those who would like some company when preparing for the big event

Organise a feminist pub quiz or get creative with an event.

Some activities may require a licence so please do check the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice here before you organise your event.

Ask friends for donations instead of birthday gifts by starting a Facebook fundraiser.

You can actually raise money for us when you are doing your online shopping on Amazon via AmazonSmile or through EasyFundraising.

If you find another funding portal you like to use that we aren’t currently registered for, just let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you need some guidance or you have any questions. The easiest way to reach us is by email info@centreforwomensjustice.org.uk or direct message on social media but you can also ring us on 020 7092 187.

  1. Can I use CWJ logo?

Yes! We have created a specific logo for supporters of CWJ. Send an email to info@centreforwomensjustice.org.uk with your fundraising idea and we will send it to you.

  2. Do you provide any materials, such as collection boxes or t-shirts?

As a small charity, we are limited in what we can provide, however, we will do our best to provide you with what you need and are happy to speak with you about any specific requirements you may have.

  3. Where do I send the money I've raised?

With Just Giving, we will receive any donations automatically, so there's no need for you to do anything.

If you've received cash, be sure to keep it secure. Have two people, where possible, to count and record the total amount. The best way to send it to us is via bank transfer. Send us an email and we’ll give you the bank details and a reference. If you’d prefer to send a cheque, please post to Centre for Women’s Justice, Oxford House, Derbyshire Street, London E2 6HG

  4. How do I claim Gift Aid?

We can claim an extra 25% on donations with Gift Aid.

If you are fundraising with a platform such as Just Giving, it's simple. They collect Gift Aid on all eligible donations and will send this to us much faster than we'd normally receive it, so we can spend more time and resources on tackling violence against women and girls.

If you're using a sponsorship form , make sure that eligible supporters tick the box or complete a gift aid form and send the details over to us. We then take care of the rest.

  5. I'm interested in holding an event, is there anything I need to be aware of?

Yes. If you're interested in holding a raffle, or your event includes food or alcohol, you may need a license. You'll also have to make sure you follow health and safety laws. Take a look at the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice here for more information.
