Women Who Kill

FightBack

Our new film ‘Fightback’, highlights the plight of women convicted of the murder of male partners who were violent and abusive towards them. The film features the families of some of the women convicted of murder and an interview with Sally Challen – alongside some of the women’s own words from behind bars. The film lays bare a misogynistic justice system that betrays women and rallies a movement for change.

Report

In 2021 we published ‘Women Who Kill: how the state criminalises women we might otherwise be burying’ , the report was the culmination of a four year research study that explores the criminal justice response to women who kill abusive men. Through in-depth interviews with some key practitioners in the criminal justice system, and most crucially with women themselves, our research explores the extent to which the law itself, and the way the law is applied, prevent women accessing justice.
