Organisations providing emotional & practical support to survivors of violence against women and girls

Centre for Women’s Justice is a legal charity focussed on strategic litigation. There are many other organisations in England and Wales who are able to provide the specialist support to survivors that CWJ cannot. Please find below a list of organisations able to help - this list is by no means exhaustive and there may be services more local to you.

  • Samaritans
    Samaritans offer a free listening service for users to speak about anything that is troubling them.

  • National Domestic Abuse Helpline
    Emotional support and practical advice, information on accessing a refuge space and on contacting local domestic abuse support services.

    Helpline open 24/7 but during some hours you may have to leave a message and wait for a call back. Live chat and BSL interpreter service also available online.

    Financial Support Line for Victims of Domestic Abuse
    The Financial Support Line for Victims of Domestic Abuse is run by Money Advice Plus in partnership with Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA). It offers specialist advice to anyone experiencing domestic abuse who is in financial difficulty.

  • National Stalking Helpline
    Practical information, support, and advice to victims of stalking.

    The Helpline is open from 9:30am - 4:00pm every weekday apart from Wednesdays.

    On Wednesday's the Helpline is open from9:30am - 8:00pm. The Helpline is not open on weekends or bank holidays.

    Assists high risk victims of stalking throughout England and Wales.

  • Revenge Porn Helpline
    Support for adults who are experiencing intimate image abuse, also known as, revenge porn. Can assist with with reporting and removal of online images.

  • The Lucy Faithfull Foundation
    Offers a confidential advice service via the Stop It Now! helpline.

    The helpline is open Monday to Thursday from 9:00am-9:00pm and Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm

    The     National Association of People Abused in Childhood
    NAPAC is the UK’s only dedicated national support service for adult survivors of all forms of childhood abuse. Their mission is to provide specialist, confidential support that empowers survivors to heal and thrive.

  • Imkaan
    UK-based, umbrella women's organisation dedicated to addressing violence against Black and Minoritised women and girls i.e. women which are defined in policy terms as Black and 'Minority Ethnic' (BME)

    Imkaan is not a direct service provider, and is therefore not able to offer individual advice or support but they can provide information on local services run by and for Black and minoritised women

  • Galop: National LGBT+ Domestic Abuse Helpline
    Helpline for LGBT+ people who have or are experiencing domestic abuse. We are also here for people supporting a survivor of domestic abuse; friends, families and those working with a survivor.

    The helpline is open: Monday and Tuesday from 9:15am-8:00pm. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:15am-4.30pm 

    Galop also have helplines for support on conversion therapies and hate crimes.
